Johnny Thornton is an artist that lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Born in Connecticut, he spent his childhood in Johannesburg, South Africa before moving to Tucson, Arizona. After teaching himself to paint he went on to study Fine Arts at the University of Arizona. Thornton relocated to New York City where he received his Master of Fine Arts from Parsons the New School for Design in 2012. Thornton has had work exhibited throughout the United States and is part of several collections. Currently, Thornton works out of his studio in Brooklyn, NY and is the head Curator and Gallery Director of two contemporary art galleries in Brooklyn, NY-  La Bodega Gallery and Established Gallery. Thornton is also the Director of Arts Gowanus, a non-profit organization working to support, promote, and advocate for local artists and a sustainable arts community in Brooklyn.
